I've read through the other threads regarding this, but I'm still unable to launch the GUI Designer. The error I get is
----
Error connecting to the AWE Server. Verify that the Server is connected to the target.
Error in => awe_designer.m at line 127
----
My AWEServer seems to run file, and I can play audio files from it directly (by using Audio -> Play file), but I am unable to launch the GUI.
AWE Server - Native - 8.B.1.4.B Standard edition
AWECore Version: 8.B.4.0
This is a new computer, so this is the only version of AWE that's been installed.
I've successfully re-registered AWETalkToGUI.dll in both the win32-vc100-rel and x64-vc100-rel directories.
I've validated that the Microsoft C++ 2010 Redistributable is installed.
I've allowed the AWEServer, both GUIDesigners, and the License Helper in the Windows Firewall.
Any other ideas?

Alright, I did have another idea, which was to uninstall and reinstall the whole thing. Which worked! Though not exactly confidence inspiring.

Hello Lithel,
Sorry you weren't able to launch Audio Weaver Designer earlier today, however I'm glad you were able to get up and running. If you run in to any more trouble or have any other questions please feel free to post on the forums again.
Thanks,
Kevin

Hey, I'm back and I am once again unable to run the designer. =( And this time, reinstalling did not fix it. The error is the same (Error in awe_designer.m at line 127).
The server seems to work fine.

Alright, I'm putting this here for posterity. The answer is (and it was last time as well), that Audio Weaver Designer will not launch IF THERE IS NO INPUT DEVICE (eg a microphone). So the fix is, plug a microphone into your computer. Even if all you plan to do with Audio Weaver Designer is look at some designs.

Thanks for reporting the fix!
We've put in a ticket to improve the error messaging when no audio devices are connected for the next release. For now we do require that audio devices are available in order to properly drive the Native target, but we will consider eventually allowing PC's with no audio devices to have some limited functionality so users can at least load designs or connect to different targets.
