Hi,
As an AWE user, I receive the DSPC newsletter with the new AWE versions available but we lack precision about AWE versions, more specifically compatibility between AWE Core OS and AWE Designer versions. It is very common for new users/employees to simply download the latest available AWE Designer version on DSPC's website but it is very often not the same one that other colleagues use.
Not using just one AWE Designer version could be potentially risky. For example, I have made DSP layouts with the Designer version 6 years ago that are currently built and deployed to products with the Designer version 8. I would really like to solve that by having one version per platform for example, both for the Designer and the Core OS. I can only do that if I know the compatibilities between the AWECoreOS we have installed on our platforms and the AWE Designer versions I can download. Does this compatibility list exist somewhere? If not, would it be possible to add it to the release notes you send out? It would greatly help me and my colleagues maintain up-to-date code with less risk to use outdated or non-compatible modules.
That being said, it would also be a big help to be able to download older versions of the AWE Designer on the DSPC website in case we are not using the latest version as it’s often the case.
Best,
GSUC

Hello Gabriel,
There are two ways to see compatibility between AWE Designer and AWE Core version. Firstly, If you go the Server and AWE Core version info you should be able to see the compatible versions as shown in the screen shot below:-

Secondly, on the DSP Concepts website you can see all the AWE Designer and AWE Core Release versions with Dates and release notes for further details. Link : https://documentation.dspconcepts.com/awe-designer/latest-version/audio-...
Hope this helps!

Hi Karishma,
Thank you for your answer. The picture you added is showing the link between the AWE Designer and the AWE Core but what about the AWE Core OS? We integrate the latter on most of our platforms. Should I just follow your link to the releases and find the matching AWE Core OS for the AWE Core version mentioned on the designer window? For example, on your picture, it says: AWE Core 8.D.10.0. If I follow the link, there's a release note for AWE Core 8.D.10.0 and AWE Core OS 8.B.20 (https://documentation.dspconcepts.com/awe-designer/latest-version/awe-co...(8.D.2.7)AWECore,AWECoreOS-AWECore8.D.10,AWECoreOS8.B.20). Does that mean the AWE Designer you're using is compatible with AWECoreOS ver. 8.B.20?
Best,
Gabriel

Hello Gabriel,
Generally, the versions of AWE8 Designer is supposed to be compatible with all AWE8 AWE Core and AWE8 Core OS libraries. In your case for example all the versions begin with AWE8 and should not have a problem with the release. As far as the screen shot provided above goes, the AWE Server will provide the accompanying AWE Core and AWE Core OS versions released simultaneously with the Designer for your reference.
We also have versionInfo.txt in the AWE Designer folder with more AWE Core details, please refer to the screenshots below:-

Hi Karishma,
Thank you! I believe that answers my questions. We have a common Designer version for both AWECore and AWECoreOS and as long as we use the same major number on all 3 type of releases, it is compatible.
