Hi,
I have installed AWE Designer 8.B.1.4.E-build382 Standard. I did have it working, but now it just doesn't start. I have tried editing Windows Firewall to let through DesignerGUi.exe (64b and 32b), AWE_Server.exe, LicenseHelper.exe.
When I double-click the AWE Designer icon I notice in task manager that you see AWE Designer in Apps section, it then says "not responding", I then briefly see it in the Background processes section, it then says "not responding", it then disappears and nothing else happens.
I've also tried running the .\awe_designer.exe from Powershell - nothing happens.
I've tried running as Administrator - nothing happens.
I've tried uninstalling and re-installing several times (including the matlab run-time which takes a while! and MS Visual Studio 10 Redistributable ), still nothing happens.
The annoying thing is that I did have it working briefly for a few days, though sometimes on startup of AWE_Designer I would get a blue-screen and the PC would reboot.
My PC specs are: i7-2620M CPU 2.7 GHz, 4 GB Ram, 64-bit Windows 10 Enterprise Edition.
Is there any other debug I can take to try and solve this issue ? Note, I have run other audio apps fine on this PC (i.e. Matlab (not really an audio app!), Pure Data, Max/MSP, Ableton (demo version), Audacity, Audio Precision software, etc.).
Thanks

Hello David,
Sorry about the trouble. Could you try uninstalling one more time, and then before reinstalling, making sure all Matlab Runtime library files and all Audio Weaver files are deleted from your computer?
Thanks,
Kevin

Hi,
Ok uninstalled AWE, matlab runtime, VS 2010 redistributable. Reboot PC. Started install of AWE Standard. When completed and I open the AWE Designer I got a PC blue screen reboot error (PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGED AREA). On restarting the PC, when I open the AWE Standard, I get the DSPC logo, then...nothing. Task manger shows AWE Designer in the Apps window, then briefly in the background processes window, then it disappears and nothing happens.
Thanks,
David

Hi David,
Sorry that did not alleviate the issue. I'm not so sure about the "PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGED AREA" error, but sometimes when installing and launching Audio Weaver for the first time, it can take several minutes before a screen pops up. Waiting a couple more minutes might allow time for Audio Weaver to pop up. If that still does not work, do you have another machine that you could try installing Audio Weaver on?
Thanks,
Kevin

What's the a minimum requirement specs for the PC to run the software ?
Also, is there no other debug mode I can start the AWE s/w up in ? I still feel it may be something to do with my Firewall settings ?
Yes, I do have another PC (at my workplace) that I can VPN into that can run AWE, but the problem is that I can't hear the remote audio output back through the PC I'm using at home. Other applications like Audacity, Matlab, etc. I can hear the audio fine from my remote PC but not when using AWE ? Is this something to do with RDP ?

Hello David,
Generally, the minimum PC requirement specifications are: Win7 or higher, 64 bit OS, with 4G or more of RAM. Essentially Audio Weaver will run on anything Matlab can.
Unfortunately there is no debug mode, but if you thin kit may be due to your firewall settings, you could temporarily disable your Windows Defender. There is more information about troubleshooting firewall problems here as well: https://dspconcepts.com/forums/audio-weaver-designer/125-stm32f4-discovery.
Regarding your last question, the reason is partly due to both the RDP and the Audio Weaver Server. There is more information about that here: https://dspconcepts.com/forums/awe-designer/757-cant-start-awe-designer-awe-server-error (in the last comment).
There's one more thing to try perhaps, and that is installing an older version of Audio Weaver. I'll email you shortly with instructions on how to do so.
Thanks,
Kevin
