I've just started using AW using the windows server as my audio target (no physical DSP at the moment). I can successfully use the built-in player, but I'm wondering if it's possible to use 3rd party audio players as a source? Any way to play music from something like Apple Music or Audacity, but pipe the output into AW for processing?

Hi John,
This is possible. One way would be to write your own code (Windows BSP/App) to write the audio buffers from Apple Music (or the audio app of your choice), to the Windows BSP/App, and have Audio Weaver to read from there. We have documentation and examples of how to do this here: http://download.dspconcepts.com/awecore/index.html.
Another option would be to use an existing virtual audio bussing program. I'm hesitant to guide you to 3rd party software, so I'm not recommending you use this option, but I personally use a program called Virtual Audio Cables (https://vac.muzychenko.net/en/). It shows up as a sound card for your audio devices, and you can send and receive audio between applications on your computer. It will show up in Audacity as an input/output sound device as well (screenshot attached). To use this with Audio Weaver, from the Audio Weaver Server, you would go to 'File > Preferences', and select it as your input/output Audio Device (screenshot attached).
The last option, would be to just use the 3.5mm line-in on your pc and stream music from an external device (e.g. cell phone) to Audio Weaver. To do this, you would adjust your input/output devices from the Audio Weaver Server Preferences accordingly as described above, and then in Audio Weaver Designer, go to 'Layout > Layout Properties', and switch the PC/Linux Audio Source from 'File' to 'Line Input' (screenshot attached).
Hope this helps!
Thanks,
Kevin
