Hi,
I have a brand new STM32F407 Discovery board. I have installed Audio Weaver Designer 6.18.02 STMicro.exe.
I have connected up the Discovery board with the USB cable to my PC.
Then I proceed to use Audio Weaver Server --> Target --> Change Connection --> USB (VID: 1155/PID:407) --> Click Change...
A window dialog popped up showing "Unable to create USB port - is this port in use by another program?"
I tried with another PC and changing to a new Discovery board, repeated the installation and I got the same error.
What else can I do? I really don't think the USB port is used by any program at all.
Please help!!!

Hi Lam,
It's not clear from your post, so just checking. Did you flash the Discovery board with a .bin image from the downloadable BSP?
You may also want to try a different USB cable, since users sometimes have issues caused by certain cables. This thread may also have some other ideas to fix your problem: https://dspconcepts.com/forums/audio-weaver-general/440-stm32f7-discover...
Hope this helps.

Hi,
I have an STM32F769i- Discovery Board. I have Flashed the Board with the .bin file downloadable from DSP concepts, using STLink Utility. In the Audio Weaver Server, I am getting the error of "Unable to create USB port - is this port in use by another program?"
I have tried different USB cables for USB storage support. I have tried restarting with PC also. I have checked the user manual, and the Sound Control of the PC is not showing "STM32 Audio Streaming in FS mode".
What should I do now?
Help!!

Hello Vaibhav,
If flashed correctly, you'll see the F769 EVK device in your Windows Device Manager enumerate as pictured below:
Do you see this?
Thanks,

I'm having the same trouble as KL Lam. I have been using my board for years and did not previously have trouble with "Unable to create USB port - is this port in use by another program?" I know the board and cables are fine because I carried the whole lot to the lab down the hall and everything works as expected there. On my laptop in my office (where everything was also previously working), I have tried restarting my machine, reinstalling AWE Designer and reinstalling CortexM4. I flash the board each time before opening AWE Designer. My USB cables are connected directly to my PC, not to a hub. Do you have any additional thoughts for me?

News! News that might useful to others experiencing this error (including, but not limited to, my lab students). I had another (working) STM32 project in my C:\DSP Concepts\AWECore ST_EVAL_CortexM4 Release-8.D.2.3\SampleApps\STM32F407 directory. When I reinstalled AWE Core for Cortex M4, it did not reinstall over this directory. I moved the contents of my STM32F407 directory elsewhere and then reinstalled the AWE Core. After that I was able to Change Connection to USB port as before. I have not seen a reference to this method of solving the "unable to create USB port" problem. Hope the idea might be useful to others.
